Kingscote

Last day so off to Kingscote for Kaye & I to do a little retail therapy 😜 we managed to buy some dressy thongs, bag & table runner for the apartment.   Drove around the Bay - such a beautiful outlook & the Bay extremely calm.

We enjoyed a meal at the Kingscote Hotel overlooking the bay for our last night.   Huge steak each & yummy dessert.

Ferry ride was good going back & we said farewell to Kaye & Graeme in Normanville.  It was a great holiday & would love to go back!

Island Estate Brewery

Lazy morning cleaning up & then a walk around the lagoon.   First stop was the Island Brewery Estate - lovely outlook & sat on the balcony & enjoyed a platter.  Tony & Kaye had a paddle & Graeme & I opted for a glass of wine.   Very pleasant lunch.

On to Kiss Gin Distillery for a tasting - were tempted by their cocktails 🍹 but still had a long day ahead 😂

Emu Bay, Stokes Bay, King George Beach

Drove on the beach & around beautiful holiday homes in Emu Bay

Drove onto Stokes Bay - beautiful walk through arches, over rocks & along a path until we reached the beautiful beach.   Had a leisurely walk along the beach until it looked like rain so headed back to a shelter shed for our lunch.  Just as we set up it started to rain ☔️ (only time it rained)    The Rockpool Cafe was closed so no coffee or Icecream !

Drove on to King George Beach & Snelling Beach and along the Northern Side of the Island to look at the spectacular views.   Ended up at a creek & walked over a bridge to a beautiful cove & swimming holes.

Back to camp, grabbed a wine, beer & chips & drove to Emu Bay to watch the sunset.    Back to camp for dinner on the camp fire 🔥

Bay of Shoals, Springs Road Winery & The Lavendar Farm

Finally ready to go after fixing the gas …… drove to Bay of Shoals Winery where we decided on a platter to have with a few wines, beautiful views but not as good as Dudley Wines.

After a nice platter we drove to Springs Road Winery where we enjoyed a small cheese & biscuits & a few wines 🍷

Last stop for the day was the Lavender Farm.   Beautiful large scones with jam & cream & coffee.    Also purchased some honey & a lavender spray for Jan (our neighbour).  Great way to end the day, then home for sausages & onions cooked on the fire for dinner.

Trouble with van

After a lovely hot shower I went to put the kettle on to find we had no gas coming through!   After Tony checking all the gas bottles it was confirmed the problem was something other than empty gas bottles - no gas was getting through.    I immediately thought we would be without gas for the rest of the trip 🥺.

Tony & Graeme dismantled a few things & decided it was the regulator for the gas.  Luckily Graeme had told Tony to carry this part some 10 years ago!   After many tools coming out & discussions it was finally fixed.

Shifting camp to Kingscote - Discovery Lagoon Bush Camp

Great spot in bushland where we could still have camp fires 🔥 set up camp & relaxed over lunch before heading to the Beer Bewery down the road.  Kaye & I opted for a sparkling white while the boys had a paddle of beer tastings!   We watched a family being filmed for an ad on the Sealink which kept us amused for awhile🍾🥂

Back to camp for our fire 🔥 steak, spuds & mushrooms cooked on the open fire &  Graeme cooked a great damper for desert - topped it with Kangaroo Island honey & cream!

Remarkable Rocks

Beautiful walk around Remarkable Rocks, although quite windy & cool in parts it was a lot of fun!

Drove on to Hanson Bay where the Resort was burnt down.   Although we could see where the fire had been there was a lot of new growth starting to grow & the contrast was quite spectacular.

Back to camp to get our fire started & cook roast chicken on Graeme’s new rotisserie, cooked all our vegetables in the fire 🔥
